Magnificently Free

(An excerpt from 300 Days: Out of the Dark Night into Life)

“A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2, MSG)

We are free. We no longer need to walk under the self-condemnation of our past. When Christ is our Lord, a new power is in charge.

This took place some time ago for most of us, but we have allowed ourselves to remain trapped in condemnation. I love the way this version of the Bible puts it: “magnificently cleared the air.” When we realize the power that Jesus’ death on the cross holds over life-we are set free. Magnificently! There is no reason for us to cycle around from joy, peace, and life to condemnation, depression, and death. The price has been paid once and for all.

The solution to our continuous cycle of ups and downs is allowing the Spirit of God to hold us above the cloud. It is only by our hand that we ever have to come down! Condemnation- do you fully understand its implications? The literal meaning is the act of passing sentence on someone. You determine that they are to be punished, condemned. When we carry the weight of condemnation on ourselves, we believe that we will never be set free. Because we feel we are doomed to punishment, we see through the perspective of a prisoner. Jesus came to release us from this, to set us free to live a victorious life.

I needed to learn this.

Is there a lie you believe that is linked to condemnation?

Are you secretly judging yourself for something that was out of your control?

Spend some time with the Lord today and ask Him about it. You do not deserve to be condemned!
