Parable of the lamp

Have you ever felt like you were shining? I don’t mean that you were mysteriously lit up, or turned into some glowing creature. Have you ever felt as if you were shining like a lamp that lights up the room?

Mark 4: 21-23 (TPT)

He also gave them this parable: “No one lights a lamp only to place it under a basket or under the bed. It is meant to be placed on a lampstand. For there is nothing that is hidden that won’t be disclosed, and there is no secret that won’t be brought out into the light! If you understand what I’m saying, you need to respond!”

Are you a child of God? If so, you have been given the flame for your lamp. You were not created to be hidden under a bed or set aside on a table. You were created to shine. Your story can show someone else the way to the Lord.

For there is nothing that is hidden that won’t be disclosed

Every part of your story is important to the Father. He knows it – He wrote it with you!

Are you still hiding? Why? Stand up straight and tall. Look life in the eye and declare this with me:

I am important!

I am a lamp that burns with the flame of the Lord!

I understand what You are saying Father and I will respond!

I believe the source of addiction’s strength is shame. We hide in the dark, afraid to admit truth. We cower away from the Lord’s freeing power because we think we are so shameful. We lie and say things are fine because we don’t want people to know the secrets of our families. Shame hurts. It is heavy. It will keep our lamp from shining.

I want my lamp to shine! With the Lord’s help, I can destroy shame in my life. How? One word:

Speak

My story is important. Someone needs the words that only I can speak. Your story is important. There is someone who is waiting to hear it.

As we speak, shame will shatter. This is the power of testimony.

Little known fact:

I was a high school dropout. I quit going because I could not get up in the morning after partying all night every night. I was 18 and pregnant, a run away and in trouble. I tried to go back to school to finish- the school refused me because I was pregnant. I did it on my own and graduated. Now I am a teacher. What made the difference? God. I found hope!

Someone reading this needed to hear that- if it is you, please comment and let me know! Shame is destroyed as we speak! We can do it together! We can help each other shine!
